This project provides assistance in recording the data in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (TARP) and implementing that data into conservation efforts. During their stay, the group will also receive an in-depth education that covers coral reef ecology, biology and conservation.

  • Assist in conservation efforts for local marine species
  • Develop a stronger understanding of marine ecosystems
  • Learn different scientific techniques for varying types of study
  • Assist research projects by collecting data and monitoring species' populations and dispersal across different reefs

Home to a diverse range of marine life, from invertebrates and corals to turtles and fish, the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (TARP) is a unique haven in northern Borneo that provides excellent biology and conservation education. Thanks to concentrated efforts, the reefs in this part of Borneo are flourishing and not impacted too heavily by their close proximity to the city of Kota Kinabalu. School groups that venture to this part of the world to assist researchers and biologists with their studies will be able to take part in understanding how and why this reef system is thriving and how to continue the success.
