Zambia: Rural School Development

Primary level education in Zambia is free, but in many cases the school facilities are in a poor and dilapidated condition. Despite enthusiasm from the community to enhance school environments, there is a lack of funding for the resources to complete even basic maintenance.

• Work with the local community to redevelop poorly maintained facilities to enhance education and recreation.
• Research opportunities with the local community to develop lasting and beneficial school and recreational facilities.
• Develop imaginative project ideas to enrich the learning environment for children in the local school.
• Explore the options for cultural exchanges and lifestyle insights between your group and the community.

Your contribution to the enrichment of Zambian schools is one which can make a huge difference to the community. Creating an inspirational learning environment for school children will not only look good, but by incorporating teaching aids you can help to enhance the quality of the education they receive. You can further enrich community environments with the construction of playgrounds to encourage play based learning activities.

This project allows groups to become immersed with the local community, and there are fantastic opportunities for cultural exchange. Allowing time to run a sports day or football match between the group and the community brings an extra dimension to this project.
