A haven for wildlife such as bears, wolves and eagles, Pelister National Park was also the battleground of the Macedonian Front in World War I, evidence of which can be discovered through the historic trails.

The National Park is one of the most picturesque regions of Macedonia where views of rolling valleys and mountainous ridges are luscious in the summer, and glistening with snow in the winter.

Like other parts of Macedonia, Pelister National Park has endemic species, most notably the Macedonian Pelagonia trout, and the highly significant Macedonian pine which is only found on a few mountains in the whole of the Balkans.

For students adventuring to this part of Macedonia, the two main features are the conservation projects for flora and fauna, as well as trekking Baba Mountain and the Pelister Peak (2,601 metres).
