Danum Valley is a conservation area covering 438 square kilometres, filled with many of Sabah’s rarest flora and fauna. With over 270 bird species and larger wildlife including orangutans, clouded leopards and rhinos, this is a perfect location to study Borneo’s rich biodiversity,

The Danum Valley has always been a largely uninhabited area, limited by human interference such as logging, which has resulted in a wide range of diversity of both flora and fauna which continues to offer scientific excellence. Bornean orangutans, gibbons, Malay sun bears, wildcats and over 15,000 plant species can found in Danum’s rainforests.  As a protected conservation area, there is a strong focus to preserve the flora and fauna found in the valley.

This remote tropical rainforest offers a unique environment, where you can trek though the jungle, enjoy early morning birdwatching and night-time nature walks, accompanied by specialist naturalist guides. For bird enthusiasts, there are over 270 bird species and Danum is the only location where the rare spectacled flowerpecker has been observed.
