UK Leaders

A UK qualified Mountain Leader with previous experience of leading groups of young people overseas accompanies all trekking-based trips that we run. All leaders are assessed by us and will be responsible for the safety and well-being of the entire group.

We are very lucky to have a dedicated group of Expedition Leaders currently working with Schools Worldwide. Their skills and experience are essential to ensuring a unique and life-changing experience for the young people we take away. However, we are always looking for new members of staff to join our overseas team of Group Leaders so get in touch if you want to join our team!

Minimum Qualifications

All our leaders must be, as a minimum Mountain Leader (Summer) assessed, hold a valid HSE Approved first aid qualificiation and be willing to undergo a DBS assessment

Travel Experience

Whilst it is not essential that you have previously travelled to the destination you will be leading to, you must demonstrate extensive developing-world travel experience- ideally with some experience leading groups in an overseas setting

Essential Requirements

You are there, not only to ensure the students safety, but also to enthuse, encourage and inspire. Therefore an outgoing personality is a must. You will be leader, confidant, facilitator, friend so must have great communication skills...and a whole lot of patience!

Meet a Leader


Kim Jones

Kim recently retired as Head of Co-curricular at a school in Durham and having been a teacher for 33 years in the roles of Assistant Headteacher, Head of Science and Contingent Commander of CCF, Kim has gained a wide range of experience of working with groups on outdoor activities. Since 1997 Kim has organised camping trips to a range of remote regions throughout the UK and has led numerous overseas expeditions to destinations worldwide; including India, East Africa, South America and the Far East. As a qualified ITC First Aid trainer Kim also runs a number of courses from Basic First Aid to HSE First Aid at work and 16hr Outdoor First Aid. When he is not working or travelling Kim enjoys a wide variety of interests from music and archaeology to sea kayaking and wild swimming.
