Located in the very north of KwaZulu-Natal, right by the Mozambique border, Kosi Bay is a historic and vitally important part of South Africa.

Home to the ancient Tsonga Tembe Kingdom and their famous fish traps, Kosi Bay is bursting with biodiversity due to its shoreline, wetlands, lake systems and estuaries.

Created from four interlinking lakes, Kosi Bay also includes part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and is arguably the finest location in South Africa to encounter wetland or aquatic wildlife. Humpback whales, whale sharks, dolphins, manta rays, and bull sharks are commonly seen across this coastline. Birdlife in this part of KwaZulu-Natal is highly prominent, with species varying from owls to kingfishers.

This is one of the most picturesque parts of South Africa and a firm favourite for school groups looking to embrace the outdoors.
