A superb experience is to trek through the location of Europe's largest volcanic eruption. The Laki Lava fields are a twisted expanse of tunnels, canyons, craters and volcanoes spread out at the foot of the mighty Vatnajokull Glacier. Followed by visits to the Blue Lagoon and tours of the Thingvellir National Park, Geysir and the Gulfoss waterfalls, itineraries provide a complete introduction to the country's most accessible highlights.

The Explorer Programme:
As an Explorer School you will travel to a harsher environment than those featured in our Adventure programmes and undertake a lengthy trek and optional activities, such as a project, to gain a full introduction to a diverse culture. -
Experience required:
A high level of fitness, an appreciation of the outdoor environment and interest with encountering a new culture. -
Age of group:
Would best suit Yr 11+ (16yrs). -
Duration:
14 - 21 days. -
