Start your journey in the colonial city of Quito and explore the beautifully preserved 'Old Town' before visiting the traditional Indian market in the town of Otavalo. Continue your journey by trekking in the mountains; you may choose to hike in the high Andes and journey to the dramatic Inca ruins of Ingapirca or, alternatively, you may wish to explore the Western cordillera before travelling to the East of the country where you will appreciate the exceptional flora and fauna of the Amazon rainforest.

The Explorer Programme:
As an Explorer School you will travel to a harsher environment than those featured in our Adventure programmes and undertake a lengthy trek and optional activities, such as a project, to gain a full introduction to a diverse culture. -
Experience required:
A high level of fitness, an appreciation of the outdoor environment and interest with encountering a new culture. -
Age of group:
Would best suit Yr 11+ (16yrs). -
Duration:
13 - 15 days. -
